Definition
Thermal Management PCBs transmit heat away from critical components (or operating areas) to ancillary spaces using one or more of the following:  metal heatsink / backing, metallic cores (including, but not limited to, aluminum and copper), or heavy copper plane layer.

Applications & Industries Served
Thermal management was initially prevalent in military applications. Eventually it extended to Power and LED Thermal Management (LED PCB Resource Center).
